Education: I started working in healthcare 17 years ago after getting my CNA license from Odessa College. I worked as a CNA for approximately 6 years while furthering my education at Odessa College to become an RN. I graduated in 2012 and worked as an RN for 8 years, while attending Chamberlain College to obtain my bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) and Walden University to obtain my master’s degree in nursing (PMHNP). I graduated in 2020 with my PMHNP and have been striving daily to encourage and empower each patient I get the pleasure of working with to take the next steps towards the abundant life God has in store for them.

My Testimony:

In 2011 my 14-month-old baby boy passed away from SIDS; this was by far the most difficult season in my life, that still affects my mental health to this day. The day my baby boy passed away, CPS showed up to remove my, then 2-year-old son from my home as “standard procedure”. From one moment to the next everything I lived for was gone, and I became severely depressed to the point I was suicidal. I made a plan, and soon after, decided that it was the day I would put action to the plan. I drove to the place, and in the “waiting” moments, my mind was racing with a thousand different thoughts, of all the reasons why this was the only option I had to make all the pain stop. But above all the noise of the chaos taking place in my mind, I heard the lyrics of a song that I had never heard before- “Strong enough” by Mathew West was playing on my radio;  I will never be able to explain with words what took place in my car that day- but it felt like God was speaking to me personally- it felt like so much more than just lyrics to a song on a radio- and this overwhelming feeling of peace came over me that felt so foreign and strange. I began crying even harder than I was initially and decided to drive away. I had no idea in that moment how my life could ever be one worth living, but I knew that God had a plan and a purpose and that encounter I had just experienced was for a reason, even if I didn’t understand. Looking back now, 12 years later, I can see clearly how God used my pain to ignite a passion inside of me that was necessary for me to fulfill the purpose he has for my life.
